Last week, we ventured into the realm of hidden worlds, uncovering the layers of meaning and mystery that exist just beneath the surface. This week, we’re diving into a related theme—invisible forces. Just as hidden worlds can be filled with unseen wonders, invisible forces shape our experiences in profound ways.

Invisible forces drive the motion in our natural environment: the gentle breeze that sways the trees, the tides pulled by the moon, or the gravitational pull that keeps us grounded. They also weave through our relationships: unspoken connections between people, the energy that can shift in a room with just a glance, or the tension that simmers beneath the surface during a disagreement.

Music, in many ways, acts as an invisible force too. It can connect us across distances, evoke emotions we didn’t even know we had, and express feelings that are often hard to articulate. Just like those unseen forces in our lives, music moves us in subtle yet powerful ways.

“Capacity” by Big Thief explores the complexities of love and connection, highlighting the invisible bonds that tie us together. “Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton is a heartfelt reflection on loss and the unseen emotional currents that shape our experiences.

This week in our songwriting, let’s reflect on these invisible forces and how they play a role in our lives. There’s so much to discover when we start to look beneath the surface!

Big love and keep going,

Lucy

SONG PROVOCATIONS

Write about an invisible force pulling two people together.

It could be a magnetic attraction or an unspoken connection. How does this force influence their actions or decisions, even if they don’t fully understand it?
