Song Club #36: Hidden Worlds
Share

While writing this week’s Song Club, I did a YouTube search for ‘hidden worlds’. It turned up videos about the Bluegill, arctic ice sheets, an underground civilization known as Agartha, a 2000 year old bible, and The Sims.

This is what I love about the notion of hidden worlds: They’re everywhere and can contain just about anything.

And, as such, they’re an entry point to endless inspiration and interest.

When I tried to find songs that were obviously about hidden worlds I figured I probably wouldn’t find any. (I didn’t.)

I did, however, realize that every song one writes has its own hidden world: there is always the song itself and the entire life underneath it.

So this week, think of hidden worlds as a sort of leaping of point for some really curious and exploratory songwriting.

Big love and keep going,

Lucy
